Upcoming Library Events

Frances, Wright Writer of Dayton member, is the speaker at the Stirring Up Food and Memories Seminar. A cookbook can contain more than recipes, it can be a historical document for your family. One that contains the stories behind the food. Preparing food and family dinners can evoke memories and emotions; as you eat, you may think of family, friends, and events related to those foods. Learn how to create and organize your own family cookbook to save not just recipes, but the memories of those important to you.

My debut novel, Last Words, isn’t your typical romance. Which is exactly why women should read it. I’ll get back to that later.

That being said, I’ve learned that people not only want to hear about my novel, but they want to get to know me. They want to feel some sort of connection to the authors they read. Especially as a newbie author with one book published, the sequel in the works, along with a novella book coming, I want to spread the word about my writing endevors. Next year I will have both romance/suspense and YA paranormal books to offer readers. Meanwhile, I want others to know what I am all about.

So here it is . . .  I have written stories throughout various times in my life. I have even used a typewriter. The people younger than thirty are saying a what? But I am perfectly comfortable in my age. Or at least I am starting to accept it more. Let’s just say I haven’t hit fifty yet! I remember records, although I was young at the time. My favorite Halloween custom was the one my mom made me. I was a Rubik’s Cube. I love 80’s and 90’s music. I went to St. Peter’s Parish School grades 1 through 8. So when I started buying my own clothes I couldn’t get enough. Nothing makes you want a huge wardrobe like wearing uniform for eight years!

What intrigues me to be a writer is the ability to create worlds. Worlds that others can get lost in by turning the pages of your book. The complements I receive about writing always touch me deeply. The photo of the letter is from a friend. It fits this cateory. She was kind enough to critique the beginning of my YA paranormal story.

Besides being an author I find absolute joy in my dog, Lucas. He is a rescue. The big fluffy baby is part Alaskan Malamute and Great Pyrenees. After our Samoyed, Bianca, passed away, I experienced heartache that was so severe I couldn’t stop crying for hours. She was my baby and I’d never see her smiling face again. Never feel her lick my hand, wait for me by the bed to come out of the shower, pet her soft beautiful fur. Devastated, Jay and I only waited a few months before checking out the Northern Lights Sled Dog Rescue Organization and found a video of Lucas. We fell in love and made arrangements to adopt him. Lucas mended my heart when I was sure the hole Bianca left would never be filled again. I once said to Jay, “I don’t know if I will ever love a dog as much as Bianca.” I was wrong. I love Lucas just as much. In fact, I believe with each new dog your heart grows bigger making room to love the new member of your family even more. That way there is room for all the dogs to be loved in your heart for eternity.

I enjoy cycling and TRX suspension training at the YMCA. Staying in shape is important for many reasons. Health first and foremost is a benefit, but stress release is an added perk. By being a member of the YMCA I get to meet new people and make friends.

I thrive on schedules and being able to do a pattern of behavior makes the world seem a little bit less hectic. Most of all I value loyalty, respect and kindness. I love with all my heart and am a devoted friend.

Cooking occasionally, I have created some recipes on my blog. I keep them simple. Below are some links to a few. Once I have my second book in the Amber Milestone Series and my YA Paranormal books available to purchase, I will post it on this website and my active amateur chef  site. https://activeamateurchef.wordpress.com Click on the “sign me up” button to follow my blog.

Like I mentioned earlier, Last Words isn’t your typical romance. There is no love triangle. What there is however will leave you wanting to read more until you get to the end. The power of learning to love yourself can bring you back from the brink of demise. Jack Hale stirs Amber’s lustful desires and sets her on a path of gut-wrenching decisions that changes her world forever.
